White speckled stoneware jar with a black slip poppy design and a beautiful blood orange color hiding inside the vessel.
The poppy was a celebrated plant in Mesopotamia, with the Sumerians dubbing it the “joy plant” and Assyrians “the daughter of the fields” for providing nourishment to crops. On reliefs, bundles of buds can be seen in the hands of genies next to the tree of life.
3.5” X 5” X 3.5”
*The flaw in this form is that I broke the handle. It has been repaired with ceramic glue, making it fully functional. Show in third photo.
